Anaesthetic Trivia - Curare

Chondrodendrum tomentosumCurare is a compound used for dart poisons by tribes in South America. It is derived from vines such as, Chondrodendron tomentosum and Strychnos toxifera. The first non-depolarising muscle blocking agent, d-Tubocurarine, was identified in 1935 by Harold King. It was found in curare that had been packed in hollow tubes.

The North Trent Committee of Anaesthetists Annual Scientific Meeting

To be held on April 25th 2008

Abstracts accepted under the following categories:

  • Audit
  • Research
  • Case Reports

Abstracts will be chosen for oral presentation and poster presentation on the day

There will be a panel of judges to choose a prize for the 'Best Oral Presentation' and 'Best Poster presentation'

All trainees will be given leave to attend and it has been agreed with all College Tutors. You must be a trainee at the closing date to be eligible

This is an opportunity to get practice at a Regional Meeting in presenting a project, a chance to see what exciting things your colleagues are doing, to improve your CV and even to win a prize! So please get thinking about your projects
