Anaesthetic Trivia - Macintosh

macintoshpic.jpgRobert Reynolds Macintosh (1897-1989), New Zealand-born anaesthetist, became the first British Professor of Anaesthetics in Oxford in 1937 and was a key figure in the foundation of academic anaesthesia. A pioneer, he designed his eponymous laryngoscope, spray, endobronchial tube and vaporiser.

Sponsorship

I have just had a phone call from Matt Faulds regarding sponsorship and money made via the website.

16 books have been bought through Amazon via the CAT website. This has raised £45 for CAT.

Also, Matt is hopeful for sponsorship from GE and Baxter.

This is brilliant news and directly due to Matts hard work (although I do have to recommend you to get back to the books for the upcoming vivas Matt!!).

Please could I ask you all to use the CAT website if you are buying anything through Amazon. It won't cost you anything extra but will raise some funds for CAT which can then be ploughed back into events.

Also, I am hoping to have finished checking everyones email addresses in the next fortnight.

The plan then is to conduct a survey of our teaching and training over a 4 week period in June. I'm fairly certain that I know what this survey will show, but I have to have concrete proof of what is (or isn't) going on before I can go any further with changing (and hopefully improving) our teaching and training.

And lastly ........ the CAT Ball is on the 17th July. Tickets are £45 and there is a definite limit on numbers this year to ensure that we can deliver a quality event. Please contact ticket sellers in your hospital or, if you are unsure you that is, drop Helen Roberts a line - she is currently at Doncaster.

Thank you.

Michael
