Just to let you know of progress that has been made following the last CAT meeting
Dear All,
Just to let you know of progress that has been made following the last CAT meeting.
It seems that after a bit of gentle cajoling payroll have just about caught up with locum payments from the region. Apparently there was a system change and this confused them all!
If anyone is still having any difficulties getting paid please let me know so that I can chase it up and also get an idea if this is an ongoing problem. Claims have to be submitted to payroll (by the hospital where you did the locum) by the 6th of the month in order to get in for that months salary packet, so realistically, you need to get it into the secretaries by the 1st of the month.
The rota system at Doncaster (one months rota at a time, 2-3 weeks in advance) is ongoing, but Dave Northwood has agreed to change to doing the rota on blocks as of August for the juniors, and November for the Seniors. The next 3 months are still being done by the month, but the Seniors put in so many requests for July weekends that he was forced to at least publish a weekend oncall rota all the way through to August.
We'll wait and see how he gets on with the 6 month SHO rota in August.
Please could everyone who was nominated to chase up email addresses please get back to me as this is essential to ensure all the trainees in the region are getting CAT emails and other important stuff.
Once I have everyones emails confirmed I would like to ask all the trainees to complete a 2 week snapshot of teaching so that we have some hard evidence to present when pushing for more, and better organised teaching. I've managed to confirm that general teaching is only organised 8-10 times a year at the Hallamshire, although there is ITU, Neuro and Obs teaching seperate to that. Last I heard the Neuro teaching had fallen aside.
Plans are to arrange something more reliable at the central hospitals - the Regional hospitals appear to be providing good teaching sessions at present, although I'd appreciate your feedback to confirm/refute this please.
Summer Ball plans are coming along at a great pace. Please note that places are limited this year so get your time off and tickets confirmed ASAP.
Sat 17th July at Baldwins.
The first 5 tickets ate each hospital have an earlybird discount as well.
Thanks everyone. Please keep in touch.
Michael
