About CAT

CAT exists to provide both social and educational welfare for the trainee anaesthetists in the North Trent Region

We meet formally on the last thursday of every month. Issues and topics relevant to training and education are discussed formally followed by a more social and relaxed meeting, often in a local pub

CAT also has representatives on local committees involved in training (eg the allocation commitee and NTRAEC - North Trent Regional Anaesthetic Education Committee)

Guest speakers and representatives are invited on a monthly basis to talk to us about issues or new products

Larger more formal social events are also arranged including the annual CAT Ball in the summer

The new Chairman is John McElwaine and he is happy to discuss any issues that trainees have prior to meeting

Website FAQs

You are not authorized to view this resource. Please login.

This is the most common error message that people will see when using the site. It is extremely annoying and will sometimes trap you in a cycle of trying to login and being told that you need to login!

Generally, this occurs when the session or page has timed out - say you've had the site open for a while or have opened another window while logged in and the site gets confused as to whether you're logged in or not. It may also happen if you try to access pages or resources that are restricted to members only. Very occasionally, it is a sign that we're doing a bit of behind the scenes work!

The best solution is just to click on the home link which will generate a new session and then login. Hopefully, a software upgrade which I plan to do in the next couple of months will reduce the frequency of this error.

AOL woes

This problem may have now resolved with the site upgrade. Please let me know if you can now access the site easily from AOL broadband.

Despite my best efforts I cannot get AOL to play nicely with the website. There is a problem with the way AOL broadband gives its customers an internet address, called an IP address. This is constantly changing which makes it difficult for the website to confirm that the person accessing the website is not a hacker/nasty automatic internet robot. As a result, you can't login and the registered user functions of the site are unusable from an AOL address.

However, there are some reports of Firefox (http://getfirefox.com/) or Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/) making it possible for AOL broadband users to access the site. Please have a go with them. Unfortunately, you may be stuck with having to use the site at work until this can be rectified. I don't think that will be happening within the next few months... Sorry!

Problems logging in?

If you're having difficulties logging in these tips may help:

1) Check if caps lock is on - passwords are case sensitive

2) Use the Forgotten Password function on the Login Form. This will reset your password and send you a new one via email.

Please check your Junk Mail.

3) If you are using AOL please change to a decent web browser. Firefox is the best alternative on any platform (Windows/Mac/Linux). Safari is also a good alternative.

4) If you still can't get things working, drop us a line via Contact Us and we'll sort it out.
